The Student Policy Network (SPN) is a club at Notre Dame devoted to connecting students to policy projects and research.

The Student Policy Network is a student organization that gives Notre Dame students opportunities to pursue policy research and advocacy projects in real-world settings. SPN partners with government entities, think tanks, and issue advocacy organizations to host policy research and advocacy projects related to those organizations’ priorities. A team of students work on each project, producing a white paper or any other requested deliverable along with a presentation, and presents their findings to the partner organization at the end of the semester. SPN serves as a key network and a pipeline into the world of public policy for Notre Dame students. Since fall 2020, we have hosted more than 60 projects with more than 40 partner organizations, including:

  • Submitting requests to the Treasury and State Departments for Global Magnitsky sanctions against international human rights abusers
  • Researching and advocating for driving card legislation in Indiana, which led to the introduction in the 2021 session of the first-ever bipartisan driving card bill
  • Identifying successful weatherization and energy efficiency programs in other municipalities for the Mayor's Office in South Bend
