Atlantic Council
The Atlantic Council is a non-partisan think tank located in Washington, D.C. that focuses on promoting constructive engagement within international affairs. Through publishing papers, generating ideas, building communities, and partnering with a variety of U.S. allies and organizations, the Atlantic Council works to shape global solutions and create policies regarding issues ranging from security to technology, politics, and diplomacy.
This semester, we are working with the Global China Hub within the Atlantic Council to research the global impact of China’s rise following its entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO). We aim to examine the benefits and consequences of globalization, particularly regarding its effects on democracy, economic inequality, and global trade. Our project will culminate by examining how the United States can respond to China’s growing influence, learn from past mistakes, and compete economically and politically with an authoritarian system that does not follow the democratic norms of the United States.
