Save the Dunes

The Indiana Environmental Policy team will partner with Save the Dunes, a non-profit environmental advocacy organization in Northwest Indiana that works to protect the Indiana Dunes and Lake Michigan through conservation, advocacy, and engagement. The Spring 2026 project will research the current changes of the Environmental Protection Agency’s elimination of the term “harm” from its habitat protection, and how that affects the endangered bird populations within national parks. The project will analyze proactive policies put forth to protect and mitigate the threats of habitat degradation. By conducting an in-depth analysis of national parks defense, our work aims to provide Save the Dunes with a framework for environmental advocacy in Indiana. Those who are interested in environmental conservation and policy would be well suited for this project and are encouraged to apply.
