Public Advocates in Community re-Entry
This semester, the Incarceration Rights Project will be collaborating with Public Advocates for Community Reentry (PACE) in Indianapolis, IN. PACE is an organization whose research promotes policies to increase oversight of solitary confinement sentences and discourage the practice entirely from being used throughout the Indiana Department of Corrections. Members of the Incarceration Rights project will be tasked with applying comparative policy skills to analyze past initiatives to reduce the use of solitary confinement in other states across the nation.
Members will be asked to analyze the fiscal, emotional, and physical tolls solitary confinement takes on the incarcerated as well as systems that incarcerate. The Incarceration Rights Project will culminate in a white paper and final presentation that will measure the value of reducing the use of solitary confinement across Indiana.
